Shield-Bright 309L X-tra

FCAW wire for 22%Cr - 12%Ni stainless steel For flat and horizontal position welding. Developed to be used when welding most mild or carbon steels to type 304. The higher percentages of Cr and Ni provide the necessary crack resistance. Carbon content 0.04% maximum.

The Shield-Bright series of gas-shielded stainless cored wires are specially designed to produce superior operability for all-position welding applications. Regardless of position, the weld deposit will be flat, which is a quality provided by the faster freezing slag. With a rutile based slag system, Shield-Bright gas-shielded flux-cored wires always operate in the spray transfer mode and can be used at high currents with high deposition rates using mixed or CO2 shielding gas. A full range of grades makes product selection simple.

Shield-Bright wires have easy slag release, even in V butt joints. When not completely self-releasing, the slag can be removed with minimum effort. The spatter levels are nearly non-existent, allowing for additional savings in post-weld cleaning.

ESAB's Arcaloy stainless steel metal-cored wires are small diameter stainless steel composite electrodes designed primarily for the welding of thin gauge materials. These wires have all the typical characteristics of a metal-cored wire: higher deposition rate and a rounder penetration profile than a solid wire. As a result, these wires are best used to make small butt, fillet, and lap type welds on gauge material at increased travel speeds compared to solid wire, which is ideal for automated or robotic welding applications.
